Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè (/ˈsohɘ/ /ˈsɘnë/ [famous] [stereotype]) is a subtropical Town located in the Vapíatacê Zone of the Union of Engineers.
The name Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè is derived from the Iron Elvish language, as Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè was founded by Uhleish Trêv, who was culturaly Iron Elven.
Climate
Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè has a yearly average temperature of 24°C (75°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 26°C (78°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 23°C (73°F). Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè receives an average of 205 cm/y (80 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 3262 m (10702 ft) above sea level.
Overview
Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè was founded durring the late 11th century, by Uhleish Trêv. The establishment of Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè suffered from several major issues, resulting in the need to develop many solutions to basic problems. Problems such as a lack of fresh water, logistical support, poor quality tools, and the odd monster or two. Howeaver, these were overcome in time.
Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè was built using the conventions of Iron Elven durring the late 11th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature masoned stone construction which prominantly features pointed arches, pointed ribbed vault cielings, flying buttress', and window tracery all of which share a simmilar gemoetetic patern halfway between organic and inorganic in design formaing a very distinct aesthetically integrated style. BUildings tend to reach for the havens, and more expencive homes are easily identified by their floor count as well as the addition of decorative features intigrated into the building's design such as statues, gargoyals, and embelished joinery.
Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè is was constructed arround several premissive flagstone mainstreets which cross one another at certain axies, with smaller streets branching off of them to premit acess to the many buildings deeper into the road network. The overall fashion is remenessent of a circulatory system, or other organic construct, and is quite effishent in its design. The town rests behind a thick wall made from clay bricks. The wall has all of the proper fortifications and is well made. Unfortuantly the nature of clay brick leaves it quite vulnerable to siege equipment, though the thickness of the wall lends it simmilar resistnace to a thinner hardrock wall. The millitarily questionable fortifications has suffered a visible ammount of structural damage, leaving them effectivly useless. One can't help but wonder why the has not yet effected repairs.
A look around Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè makes it abundantly clear the town suffered something horrible some time ago. It’s a quiet town filled with closed scriptoriums, people quietly yet dejectedly reading in isolated places around town, and the occasional book laying in a heap of garbage.
Civic Infrastructure
Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè.
Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.
Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.
Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.
Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè's grid is powered by mana accumulators.
Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. In spite of the Galvanic Grid, these lights continue to use their old fule sources to provide nighttime illumination to all city streets.
Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.
Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.
Cultural Notes
Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used makes use of a large oblong hall or building with double colonnades and a semicircular apse and symmetrical central-plan, resulting in buildings with a square central mass and four arms of equal length. Decorative features included domed rooves, arches, soaring spaces, and sumptuous decoration: marble columns and inlay, mosaics on the vaults, inlaid-stone pavements, and sometimes gold coffered ceilings.
Due to the actions of local Kami, winter is recurring in Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè.
The Skinwraith near Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.
Vabîl-sênë Dêtîkè's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves bloodletting to channel Charm energies of tier 3 via chanting.
